Here's what the media thinks of the new 2018 Acura TLX

Published on July 31 2017

The Acura TLX has always been able to stand out by offering consumers interested in a compact luxury car near-perfect reliability, a personality that emphasizes comfort, and plenty of value.

It seems that the 2018 Acura TLX will continue this trend. Unveiled at the New York International Auto Show, the new 2018 Acura TLX offers more safety technologies with the addition of AcuraWatch driving assistance features that are now standard on all versions, new Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity technologies, and much more.

Visually, the new TLX offers an even more aggressive and high-performance style, notably thanks to its new grille inspired by the Acura NSX.

It is not surprising that the media had a lot of good things to say about the new 2018 Acura TLX. See for yourself:

For starters, the TLX’s chrome-beaked front end has been restyled to include a genuine mesh grille. The front fenders have been reshaped and the V-6 model’s rear bumper resculpted. Engine choices are unchanged. Buyers may select either the 206-hp 2.4-liter inline-four mated to an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, which interestingly also employs a torque converter, or the 290-hp 3.5-liter V-6 paired with a conventional nine-speed automatic that has been reprogrammed for 2018. – Car and Driver

Acura expects the refreshed TLX to take a slightly bigger bite of the market. Given the aggressive pricing, the comprehensive spec, and the additional appeal provided by the new A-spec trim level, this seems more than reasonable. It's a good alternative to the default-choice Germans and it is also a commendable alternative to pretty much any premium crossover out there. Like the fedora, these reasonably-sized, space-efficient mid-sized sports sedans have a certain elegance to them. They represent a sort of tasteful restraint in an era where chrome-encrusted breadboxes on wheels have become the norm. Trust us: you will miss them when they are gone. – Road and Track

The Acura TLX sedan gets updated styling and new standard and available features for the 2018 model year. New standard features include AcuraWatch active safety tech, as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Six-cylinder models are available with a new A-Spec trim featuring revised steering and suspension tuning, and 19-inch alloy wheels, lip spoiler, body kit, bigger dual-exhaust tips, and badging as well as a new steering wheel and sport seats – MotorTrend
