Here is the new 2018 Acura RLX

Published on August 31 2017

Acura took advantage of Monterey Automotive Week to unveil the new 2018 Acura RLX, an upgraded version of its premium sedan. Taking advantage of a new, more aggressive design and a hybrid engine that is both powerful and fuel-efficient, the new RLX is also safer than ever before.

A 377-hp hybrid engine for the 2018 Acura RLX

Visually, the new 2018 Acura RLX takes advantage of a new grille that displays the Pentagon Diamond's distinctive look and gives the Acura flagship sedan a silhouette that you can recognize at first glance. The car also displays more sculpted lines and a much more aggressive overall appearance.

This impression of performance and speed is not just a question of style. Under the hood, the new 2018 Acura RLX features an engine that is one of the most advanced in the industry. It is a hybrid engine that combines a V6 direct injection engine with three electric motors. Yes, three electric motors.

Inspired by the Acura NSX engine, the 2018 Acura RLX engine produces 377 horsepower and is paired with Acura's all-wheel drive SH-AWD all-wheel drive system for optimal performance under all circumstances. This performance is enhanced by the fact that the electric motors deliver their torque instantly, so you always have a lot of power at your disposal, no matter the speed or the situation.

A lot more safety in the 2018 Acura RLX

In addition to its very powerful engine and its new design, the new 2018 RLX gets even more impressive safety features that include Traffic Jam Assist, a first for Acura. Working in conjunction with Adaptive Cruise Control with Low Speed Follow, Traffic Jam Assist helps reduce driver stress in highly congested traffic situations by helping keep the vehicle in its lane and a set interval behind a car detected ahead.

AcuraWatch™ also includes Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) with automatic emergency braking, Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Keeping Assist (LKAS), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Low-Speed Follow and Road Departure Mitigation (RDM). AcuraWatch uses a millimeter wave radar and monocular camera sensing technology to detect other vehicles as well as lane markings and can help intervene to prevent or mitigate the severity of a collision.
