2019 Acura RDX: What You Need To Know

The new turbocharged RDX was recently presented during the Vancouver Auto Show and it is the quickest, best handling and most luxurious RDX yet. It features a bold new design, innovative interior characteristic and a state of the art powertrain.

Outside, the 2019 RDX showcases Acura’s signature Diamond Pentagon Grille flanked by all-new Jewel Eye™ headlights with seven LED light elements (the outgoing model had only five). Below, wide air intakes include NSX-inspired air curtains.

Under the hood, the new RDX features a direct-injected and turbocharged 2.0-litre, 16-valve powerplant with DOHC VTEC® valvetrain and Dual Variable Timing Cam (Dual VTC). The power is rated at  272 hp and the torque at 280 lb.-ft. It clearly features more performances than the outgoing V6, with 28 lb.-ft.of torque, most of which is available at low RPM. This turbocharged engine is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission the first in the class. This gearbox sends the power to the torque-vectoring Super Handling All-Wheel Drive. Finally, the Dynamics System enables drivers to quickly switch between four drive modes (Snow, Comfort, Sport and Sport+).

Inside, the 2019 RDX is sumptuous, with comfort and technology perfectly paired. Brushed aluminum, stainless steel, open pore Olive Ash wood trim, Ultrasuede® and rich Napa leather are among the trims available to outfit the cabin.  The panoramic moonroof is standard on all variants, and passengers will enjoy the Acura ELS Studio 3D premium audio, a 16-channel, 710-watt system featuring four ultra-slim Highline™ ceiling-mounted speakers, available on high variants.

Furthermore, the True Touchpad system is designed to combine the advantages of both conventional touchscreen and remote-based approaches. This system is made for ease of use and helps the driver in every situation. It features a 10.2-inch HD centre display mounted high atop the centre console, close to the driver's natural line of sight, a centre console-mounted touchpad. The operating system is Android-based and state of the art.

Finally, the new RDX A-Spec is the first-ever Acura SUV that is available with the A-Spec treatment, adding 20-inch alloy wheels, a unique lower front fascia and gloss-black accents for the front grille, Jewel Eye headlights, a large-diameter dual exhaust finishers and A-Spec badging all around, among other refinements.
