Three Levels of Charging

Driving the all-electric ZDX is simple thanks to three different charging levels that’ll help it fit right into your lifestyle. Included with your ZDX is a portable charging cable with 120V and 240V adapters, allowing you to charge via a standard three-pronged home outlet (120V AC), or a 4-pronged NEMA 14-50 outlet (240V AC) at limited speeds.

Level 1 charging uses a standard 120-volt home electrical outlet, compatible with your portable charging cable. Simply plug your charger directly into a wall outlet and draw power from your home.

Level 2 charging uses a 240-volt electrical outlet or 240-volt hardwired connection and can be used residentially or at public charging stations*. You can purchase a Level 2 charger and have it installed by a licensed electrician*. This is the best setup for at-home charging.

Your fastest charging option, only available at public charging stations. Connect to a DC Fast Charging* (DCFC) station with 190kW of charging power and get back on the road faster.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answer: A hybrid electric vehicle and a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle both utilize their powerful electric motor and a gasoline engine to generate movement. They adapt on their own based on driving conditions, activating the electric motor and/or gasoline engine to propel the vehicle. Both vehicles also use regenerative braking, the most efficient way of putting energy back into the electric battery. This is the process of recovering energy that would otherwise be lost during deceleration so it can be reused to propel the car once acceleration is required.

The key differences between the two is that the plug-in hybrid has a larger electric motor and greater battery capacity allowing it to be used for a greater range of operation and distance. The plug-in hybrid plugs into an external electric source while the standard hybrid is solely fueled like a conventional gasoline vehicle.

A Hybrid vehicle uses both a gasoline engine and electric motor for propulsion. An electric vehicle uses only an electric motor for propulsion – no gasoline required. The electric vehicle’s high-density battery needs to be periodically charged through an external electrical power source.

No. Hybrid vehicles automatically charge when they’re in motion and, through a clever innovation called regenerative braking, which recovers energy that would otherwise be lost during deceleration.

One important adjustment to your life will be remembering to plug your Prologue into a Level 1 or Level 2 charger overnight at home. When you do need to charge while on the road, some quick planning can help you determine which public charging station best fits your road trip and, for added convenience, which has amenities near it so you can shop, eat, or run errands while your Prologue charges.

The maintenance on an EV is less than you may think. EVs do not require scheduled oil changes, for example, but will still need regular service on items like tire rotations, alignments, and air filter changes. The Prologue will also need to have its battery, electric motor, and cooling system inspected according to a maintenance schedule.

Planning ahead and checking what charging options are available en route to your destination can help ensure the best road trip experience possible. Finding the charging stations that will be available on your drive through mobile apps can help optimize your charging and keep you on track to arrive at your destination on time. Many public charging stations are now located near restaurants and shopping malls, so you can time your charging with meals or stretch your legs while you wait.

Yes. Driving a Prologue is even more convenient when you charge at home with a Level 2 charger. Home installation allows drivers to charge their Prologue at their convenience and start every morning with a charge. It’s also more cost-effective than public charging stations. We highly recommend speaking to a certified installer who will help you understand all the requirements and the best home connector type for your needs.

Tons! The rising number of public charging stations in some areas make it possible to solely use public stations. Many EV drivers often rely on chargers at their workplace

EVs offer an adrenaline-pumping drive by providing instant acceleration due to the electric motor. By placing the batteries in the floor, EVs also have a lower center of gravity, ensuring agile handling on the road while a single-speed transmission provides a seamless driving experience. EV performance also contributes to charging. When EVs slow down, the batteries can be recharged through energy recaptured by regenerative braking. The electric motors also produce less noise than internal combustion engines, resulting in a quieter drive.
